In the North Atlantic... German submarine U-31 is attacked and sunk by the British destroyer HMS Antelope. This is the second sinking of this submarine (see March 11, 1940).

Seven suicides are recorded in the Bible: Abimelech by the sword (assisted) in Judges, Samson by crushing in Judges, Saul by the sword in 1 Samuel, Saul's armour-bearer by the sword in 1Samuel, Ahithophel by hanging in 2 Samuel, Zimri by fire in 1 Kings, and Judas Iscariot by hanging in Matthew. However, in Acts, Judas dies by accident. In the non-canonical Gospel of Judas, he is stoned to death, and according to St.Paipas of Hierapolis (68-155AD) he was run over by a chariot.
