SUNDAY 11th JULY 2010 08:25(BST)

THIS DAY IN WW2 (11.7.40)
In Vichy France... President Lebrun resigns and Petain, already de facto dictator, becomes head of state after an overwhelming vote in his favour in parliament.

TODAY IN MY LIFE
Blogging, ironing, client and seminar prep, family quality time.

TODAY'S THOUGHT
We do not see things as they are, we see them as we are.

TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
I will always be a "managed rageaholic". The lure of the addiction is its empowering nature. The power and strength surging through you, and the delight at seeing the waverers retreat before it, is very pleasurable. Well I know however from my extensive learning and experience that this power sours, spoils and brings unhappiness and chaos to the surroundings, as well as consumes the wielder and all he loves, until hate and anger is all that remains of him. Yet I don't regret having to fight this internal civil war, as the struggle has brought me profound strength and learning. The victory of the Union of Love over the Confederacy of Hate is hard-won but inevitable.

TODAY'S QUESTION FOR YOU
How will you increase the happiness in the world today?

TODAY'S ONELINER
Jesus loves you, but I think you're an asshole! : D

TRIVIA
The Arlington National Cemetary in the USA was originally built in 1864 as an overspill facility during the American Civil War, as due to the vast number of fatalities, all the existing cemetaries were full. The site chosen was the surrounding grounds of Confederate general Robert E. Lee's captured house,ARLINGTON HOUSE in Virginia, to imply that he was the man responsible for everyone buried there.

TODAY'S AFFIRMATION
For so long as I have a vision, I live a life of purpose.
